Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I Need a GP Referral to See a Physiotherapist?
No, a referral is not required for physiotherapy treatment and we welcome walk-ins. Worksafe (workcover), DVA, NDIS and TAC patients may also book for physiotherapy without a referral. All EPC referrals are welcome. If, after an effective assessment is carried out, we feel the need to refer onwards, we will do so to the relevant professional.
Can a Physiotherapist refer for scans?
Yes! We can refer you for scans at similar cost (for you) when compared with GP referral – there are some exceptions to this. If it would be cheaper for you to go to your GP to get a referral, we will always inform you.
What Should I Bring/Wear to my Appointment?
Please wear comfortable clothes. If you have had any recent scans or advice regarding your presenting conditions, then please do bring the scan results/reports with you.
If it is your initial appointment with us, please arrive 5-10 minutes early to fill in the necessary forms.
Is There Parking on Site?
Yes! There is a car park at the rear of the practice, with 8 car park spaces. For this, turn onto Alice Street and the first right brings you into the car park. If the parking is full there is ample on-site parking on the streets around the practice – please just ensure you adhere to the parking signs.
Can I use My Private Health Insurance Card?
Yes! With our Health Pay machine we can do on the spot claims if you have private health insurance physiotherapy extras cover. We will need to swipe your health insurance card for this, so please ensure you bring the card with you. Should you forget your card, we will print out the official invoice for you which you can then claim online with your private health insurance company. All our rehabilitation classes are run by physiotherapists, so they too can be claimed through your private health insurance.
Can I book Online?
Yes! We have online bookings available for all our services. Book your appointment here! Book your appointment here!
What is Involved in a Physiotherapy Consult?
In the initial consultation, your physio will want to have a clear understanding of the problem you’re experiencing. You will be asked questions about how and when the injury happened and about your medical history. Together with you, we will set some goals you’d like to achieve and you will leave with a printed action plan of how we’re going to achieve them. In your follow up sessions there will generally be a combination of hands on treatment and rehabilitation. Once you are feeling and moving a lot better than rehabilitation will be the main focus of your sessions.
How many Times will I need to See my Physiotherapist?
Every individuals journey is unique to them. The amount of physio required will depend on your diagnosis, treatment plan and if you’re doing your homework! We always recommend continuing until you have reached the goals that you and your physio had outlined during your consultation. Stopping early can result in regression and/or recurrence of the injury.
