Cervicogenic Headaches and Tension Headaches are 2 types that can be treated by your physio
Cervicogenic Headache (CGH): occurs when the pain is referred from the neck up to the head. This pain is commonly a steady ache or can be dull intensity pain which can get worse over time. Symptoms of CGH include – reduced flexibility of neck, dull to severe intensity pain; blurred vision in one eye and pain beneath the neck. However, these symptoms are usually present on one side of the neck, head or face. CGH can be treated with physiotherapy – joint manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization technique, posture education and strengthening rehabilitation.
Tension Headache: is the most common type of headache out of all. It is described as a band of mild to moderate pain, aching sensation over the head. Emotional and physical stress are the triggering factors. It can be managed with some relaxation & stress management techniques, physiotherapy (as above) +/- some over the counter pain relievers.
