Tendinitis and Tendinopathy
Specialised Treatment for Tendinitis and Tendinopathy
What is it?
Tendinitis is inflammation of a tendon, while tendinopathy refers to chronic (present for a longer time) tendon degeneration. These conditions cause pain, stiffness, and reduced movement.
Common Tendinitis and Tendinopathy Conditions
- Achilles Tendinopathy: Degeneration of the Achilles tendon, causing pain at the back of the heel, common in runners and high-impact athletes.
- Rotator Cuff Tendinitis: Inflammation of the rotator cuff tendons in the shoulder, typically from repetitive overhead activities, leading to pain and limited shoulder movement.
- Patellar Tendinopathy (Jumper's Knee): Causes pain below the kneecap, commonly seen in athletes involved in repetitive jumping.
- Tennis Elbow (Lateral Epicondylitis): Inflammation of tendons on the outside of the elbow, caused by repetitive wrist and arm motions.
- Golfer’s Elbow (Medial Epicondylitis): Similar to tennis elbow, but affects the tendons on the inner side of the elbow.

- Soft tissue therapy and massage to reduce inflammation and promote recovery
- Stretching and mobility exercises to improve tendon flexibility
- Load management education to balance activity and prevent flare-ups
